General Membership Meetings
Currently scheduled for the first Tuesday evening of each month, with the exception of December, as well as the months of the Spring Auction, Parent Night and the End-of-the Year Potluck Picnic (May).
Sutterville Preschool’s parent education focus is an important factor in the school qualifying for its nonprofit, tax-exempt status. The General Meetings scheduled throughout the school year are the main avenues by which Sutterville Preschool addresses the parent education component. Guest speakers with expertise in a variety of early childhood issue-related fields are brought in to share their knowledge and to answer questions from parents and teachers
Regular attendance is required. One excused absence from a General Meeting is allowed.
Maintenance Hours
Sutterville Preschool runs on parent participation and cooperation, and that includes maintaining a safe, clean environment for our children. Work parties are generally scheduled for one Saturday per month, with required maintenance participation as follows:
Participating Families: 6 Hours per year, per student
Non-Participating: 6 Hours per year, per student
A minimum of half of your maintenance hours must be completed prior to January 31st to avoid a missed maintenance hours fine. Families then have until the Work Party in May to complete their remaining hours. If maintenance hours are not completed, a fine will apply for every missed hour.
Fundraising
There are several fundraising events planned throughout each school year by the Ways and Means Chairpersons. It is through these fundraisers that Sutterville Preschool is able to keep our tuition rates at an affordable level and still maintain the high standard of learning environment for our children. Participation and support of all Ways and Means fundraising efforts are requirements for all participating and non-participating members.
In Particular, the Annual Spring Auction is Sutterville’s largest and most important fundraiser, the proceeds from which are used for school improvements. A great deal of planning and coordination goes into making this event a success and families are required to support and attend the Auction, as it is considered one of the monthly General Meetings.
In addition, families are strongly encouraged to participate on one of the many Auction subcommittees. The more involved you are, the more fun the event will be!
